STXMesh Best Practices
To help keep the South Texas mesh healthy and efficient, we encourage all users to follow these best practices:
1. Use Your Real Call Sign or Name
Configure your node with a recognizable name. If you’re a licensed amateur radio operator, consider including your call sign. This helps other users identify nodes across the network.
2. Limit Unnecessary Testing
Avoid repeatedly sending “test” messages on public channels. Excessive testing can consume valuable airtime and reduce network efficiency, especially in larger mesh deployments. Community discussions have noted that overcrowded public channels can negatively impact performance. (Reddit)
3. Keep Location Sharing Appropriate
Location sharing is one of Meshtastic’s most useful features, but only enable precision GPS tracking when needed. Consider your privacy and operational requirements before broadcasting your exact location.
